Great to have another busy weekend of games after a run of bad weather over the past few weeks.
Two sunny days meant lots of action across the county.
U8 Red & Blue
Both our Blue and Red teams were away this weekend facing Arklow United and Roundwood. Some lovely goals, great passing and team work on display. The kids are developing steadily every week and the coaches are very proud of the hard work put in by all the players.
U9 Green
On a surprisingly sunny Sunday afternoon - St Anthonys u9 Green battled a strong Arklow Town side to the very last whistle.
In spite of the surprise heatwave, the team chased every single ball, with special mention for the relentless running of Cillian Quaid, Marley Tighe and Floyd Mulholland.
Pair of goals each for Rian Meenan and Luke Hannon, were matched by the Messi like dribbling (and finish) of Liam McDonald.
All in all, a very enjoyable and impressive afternoon of football on DW1 - that even made all the sunburn that will be suffered by the supporters (and coaches) well worth it !
Thanks to Arklow for travelling up and looking forward to meeting again later in the season.
U9 Yellow
Superb performance from the U9s Yellow Team away to Wicklow Town on Saturday.
Super passing football with hat tricks from the impressive Oskar Toomey and Myles McAllen.
Some stand out displays from Peter O'Driscoll and Isaac Renwick with great defending and some great passes.
Special mention for Jamie Cleary with a top class goal and assist.
Plus an impressive return to action for Kai Pilkington with 2 goals.
Thanks to Wicklow Town A.F.C 1939 for a super game, to the travelling supporters and to all the kids for a great mornings football!
U10 White
Massive thanks to Dr Caroline Williams and all at North Wicklow Medical Practice for kindly sponsoring jerseys for our U10 White team.
The lads looked great on Saturday for their home fixture against Arklow United.
An excellent team performance with some brilliant defending passing and goals. A huge well done to all!
U10 Green & Red
Our Red and Green teams faced each other on Dermot Wheeler Park in the sunshine on Saturday morning. A very entertaining game between two super teams saw some great goals, defending and most importantly, fun! Both teams have been improving every week, and the coaching team are very proud of their progress. Well done to all!
U11 Blue Yellow & Green
On Saturday, our 3 Under 11 teams lined up against the Wicklow Rovers teams at the same age group.
The sun was out and the players were raring to go after a few weeks without a match, fuelled on chocolate and late nights of the Easter hols.
U11 Blue played at home in a very hard fought and competitive match.
The Yellows and Greens traveled down to Rovers to play a double header against two strong and physical Wicklow teams.
Both teams played some great passing football and everyone got to witness some beautiful team goals, plus a few long range efforts.
Well done to all our U11 teams, great to see the improvement every week.
U12 Red
Best performance so far this season by our U12 Red team in Shamrock Park against Rathnew on Saturday morning.
Every player on the squad gave 110 percent. The passing, the teamwork, shooting and over all work rate of the entire team was first class.
Kilcoole were very unlucky in the first half not to break the deadlock, denied several times by some excellent Rathnew defending.
More of the same in the second half, Abel Bajrics rocket of a strike rattling the cross bar in the dying moments to deny Kilcoole all three points.
Credit to Adam O'Brien and Mason Kelly who stood in as keepers for the game, Mason in particular who made some excellent saves in the second half for the game to finish up nil all.
Again, excellent team and individual performances by all but coaches men of the match today are Tom ORiordan, Abel Bajric and Mason Kelly.
Thanks to Rathnew for a super game, you are building a great little team and best of luck to you for the rest of the season.
Thanks to the referee and to our sideline of supporters who cheered the kids on the whole game.
Coaches John Ross and Jensen are extremely proud of the lads today and looking forward to building on the performance in the weeks to come.
Well done lads
U13 Girls
Our St. Anthony’s Girls U13’s were in action on Sunday in the DDSL Clubforce Cup Semifinals vs. Beechwood.
Our girls progress to the Final which will be played at the AUL Complex on the 13th or 14th May.
A very composed display by St.Anthony’s Girls who passed the ball so well and dominated possession throughout the game. The final score was 3-1 to St.Anthony’s , Laura Stanley with the ever important first and Bella McLeod following up with two in the second half to kill off the game.
Full credit to all the girls who kept up a high energy performance to create plenty of goal scoring opportunities and were rewarded in the end.
A beautiful day for footie topped off with a win📷📷
Thanks to Beechwood for hosting us. They managed to equalise soon after our first and held our pacey foward's out for for early stages of the second half.
Finally, thanks to the excellent/ ever present support on the sideline - it really is appreciated by the girls to be lifted and cheered on 📷📷.
From the coaches (Suzanne, John and Tom)
